DEMOCRACY DAY: UWAJUMOGU CONGRATULATES BUHARI, OKOROCHA

Ahead of today’s formal inauguration of all the democratically elected public office holders in the country, the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has congratulated the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, on their inauguration, with a call on Nigerians to accord them the maximum support and cooperation to enable them succeed.

In his message to the good people of Imo state in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day celebration, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, stated that the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in the last concluded general elections was a clear sign that there is an array of hope for Nigeria to regain her enviable height as the giant of Africa, as well as a strong force in the comity of nations of the world.


 He said Gen. Buhari, came at a time when Nigerians were seriously yearning for positive change, which according to him was a sharp departure from what governance used to be in the past, adding that Nigerians were confident in the ability and the strong leadership potentials of the ex-Head of state to turn things around for the general good of the people.

On the inauguration of the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the Speaker averred that the re-election of the Governor for the second term by the majority citizens of the state was indeed, a continuum in the delivery of sustainable democracy dividends and good governance to the people of the state.

Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, maintained that the people of the state made no mistake in returning the Governor to the helms of affairs of the state, stressing that the inauguration of the Governor for a second term in office would enable Imolites benefit maximally from the visionary leadership attributes of the Governor, which according to him are being witnessed across every sector of the state’s economy.

While describing this year’s democracy day celebration as historic and unprecedented in the annals of the country, as it afforded for the seamless transition of political power from one political party to the other, especially at the center, the Speaker however, called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political colorations to give the current CHANGE administration at all levels, the needed support, prayers and commitment to deliver on their mandates.
